A little preparation makes it easier to explain your goal and choose an appointment that fits.

  1. Choose a few useful photos

Save two or three examples. Explain the root depth, warmth or brightness you like, and show anything you want to avoid. Include a photo of your own hair when discussing a big change.

  2. Share your color history

Mention salon color, home dye and recent chemical treatments, including products used on the lengths. Tell the stylist when they were applied, as accurately as you can.

  3. Confirm the booking

Check whether you need full color, highlights or balayage. Ask about appointment time, current pricing and whether additional services need to be booked separately.

  4. Ask about washing and preparation

Contact the salon for instructions suited to the service you chose. Do not assume that very dirty hair or freshly washed hair is the right preparation for every color appointment.

Make it
your own.

Talk about the goal

Describe the result you want and ask what is achievable with your starting color. Leave time for that conversation when arranging the appointment.

Mention previous reactions

Tell the salon about previous reactions to hair color before your visit. Ask what product-specific checks or preparation are required.

Plan the follow-up

Ask about care instructions and future appointments for the result you choose. Your maintenance plan should fit your color and routine.
